Introducing the spiritual tourist destination Cau Palace in Phu Quoc

History of the formation of Phu Quoc Cau Palace

According to some information recorded in history, Cau Palace was built around the 17th century. At this time, Phu Quoc Island had only a few people living. One day, unlike every time they went out to sea and returned peacefully, a group of fishermen's fishing boats suddenly encountered a big storm right in the middle of the sea. Facing death, the fisherman was miraculously saved by a mysterious "energy source".

When safely brought to shore, the fisherman woke up and found himself lying on a cliff with a rather mysterious animal figure. In order to commemorate the benefactors who protected them, people on Phu Quoc island built a temple to worship the guardian god. This helps them feel more secure and confident during their trips to sea. Cau Palace has been restored many times and the most recent time was in 1997.

Architecture of Phu Quoc Cau Palace

The architecture of this palace is not elaborately designed, with sharp carved patterns but still has an attractive unique character. Looking at the palace from afar, visitors will easily recognize the familiar features often found in communal houses in the North.

That is the roof covered with bright red curved tiles, and two large pillars that help support and make the house more solid. In particular, on the roof of the tiled roof is carved a statue of two dragons flanking the moon. +They include two edgy and detailed dragons and a ceramic moon figure. To enter the main hall, visitors must pass 29 steps with cliffs.

The construction materials of Cau Palace are quite modern because it was built in a neo-renovation style. This is located in a very high position so from a distance it looks like an ancient fortress tasked with protecting the pearl island of Phu Quoc.

Surrounding the fortress are many large and small rocky outcrops and rows of green trees covering it to create shade. In particular, in the grounds of the palace there is a Sop tree that is nearly 100 years old. Through all the waves and turbulence of the sea, trees still grow on rocks, sturdy and majestic, just like the eternal vitality of the people of Phu Quoc.
